Rooted in West Virginia.
For more than 70 years, The Arc has been creating opportunities for and with people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. Here in West Virginia, that work has a name — The Arc of the Three Rivers.
Who we are
Founded in 1952, The Arc of the Three Rivers is a community-based, non-profit chapter of The Arc — the national network of more than 600 state and local chapters working to promote and protect the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families.
We’re a community of self-advocates, families, direct support professionals, volunteers, and neighbors — guided by a volunteer Board of Directors that reflects the four counties we serve: Kanawha, Boone, Clay, and Putnam.
What we do
Every year, we walk alongside more than 500 people across our region. We are licensed in West Virginia to provide behavioral health services and certified to deliver Title XIX (Medicaid) Waiver services. Our supports include:
- Service Coordination — connecting individuals and families to the right supports at the right time.
- Behavior Support & Therapeutic Consultation — practical, person-centered strategies that work in real life.
- Psychological Assessment — clear, respectful evaluations that open doors to services.
- Residential & Community Habilitation — support to live well, at home and in the community.
- Supported Employment — real jobs, real wages, real careers.
- Representative Payee Services — trusted help managing benefits with dignity.
Why it matters
Whatever the diagnosis, whatever the stage of life, The Arc of the Three Rivers is a resource of first choice. We’re embracing because everyone belongs. We’re experienced because we’ve been at this for seven decades. And we’re determined because the work — full inclusion, full lives — isn’t finished.
